I recently taught a dance class as part of Broadway Dance Center’s Dance Haiti guest class series benefiting the relief efforts in Haiti. The studio raised over $2,500 after just one week of classes and aims to raise a total of $10,000 which will be donated to the Red Cross.
I’ll be teaching another open level Modern dance class this Thursday, February 4 at 9p. The class price is $18 and 100% of the proceeds will go to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund. The dancers and I had an incredible time dancing to Fela, Me’shell, Haitian folk songs, and whatever else my shuffle could come up with. I’m looking forward to enjoying another wonderful evening. Join us as we dance for the cause!

This week, you can catch me performing twice!
I’ll be performing a collaborative work with members of INSPIRIT, a dance company on Thursday, 4 June at 6 p.m. The company created a piece inspired by the poems of Americo Casiano, Jr. from his book, On the Stand. The thirty-minute performance will take place at UPROSE in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Admission is FREE.
On Saturday, 6 June, I’ll be performing the newest incarnation of Lia McPherson’s work-in-progrss Circa 31-3rd as part of Arts In Bushwick’s Bushwick Open Studios & Arts Festival. This event is an open rehearsal held at Chez Bushwick in Brooklyn. It begins at 4:30 p.m. and admission is also FREE.
Come out and support! Hope to see you there!
Last night Broadway Dance Center celebrated 25 years with a big fat party! It was a really great event with incredible performances featuring work by Cecelia Marta, Rhapsody, Brice Mousset, Slam, Calen Kurka, and many other members of BDC’s faculty. The slide shows and video presentations were really great and while the food was kind of strange (read: tasteless and funny looking), the wine was nice :) It was really great to see so many people I haven’t seen in years and to see my current coworkers dazzling in attire that isn’t dancewear. It was so much fun and I only wish we could have a gala to celebrate every year!
